Gymnastics Injuries 2016 May-Dec
Yeah, not doing the list again next year. Or I'm just keeping one list that I'm updating. This is far too depressing.
Happy news! Kim Bui is back from her ACL tear and back with a vengeance. She recently earned a spot on the European team. If she stays healthy, she could certainly challenge for a spot on Germany's team.
Russia's injury list thoroughly confuses me. Komova and Kharenkova are injured. Afanasyeva was well enough to compete at European Championships but is now injured again, making her spot for Rio more tentative. There will be a combination of Russian trips to Germany and bringing the German Doctor to round like. Yes, he/she warrants capitalization.
Note about the list:
The list consists of national team members that have had some injury that keeps them out of competition. (c) indicates gymnasts that have returned to national team camp or control competition but not yet to a "public" competition.
Retirement means retirement from elite competition. Some athletes may go on to do NCAA or compete for their local/provincial team but maybe not on a national/international level.
