Adult Gymnastics: Dare to Dream

One of my hopes for the blog in the new year is to bring my adult gymnastics experiences to you.I don't know where I'll be after graduation and there's a very real possibility that I won't have the time to attend or won't have a class nearby. So, I made a goal of having a floor exercise by the end of the school year. Operation back handspring has gone on for far too long! We'll see what happens.

Great Britain has done an excellent job of advertising gymnastics to all ages and all disciplines. You can find very inspiring videos on their Discover Gymnastics page. Here is the video that was made for adult gymnastics.

Bonus video with Tumble winner Bobby Lockwood

Gymnastics Victoria, one of the Australian gyms, shared this video of their adult gymnastics class.

As someone who started after my teenage years, I can tell you gymnastics is indeed for everyone! The people in my class range from high school kids who want to learn a back flip to parents in their 40s and 50s who want to see what their child is experiencing. Our experience range is all over the place too from people who are learning cartwheels to people relearning double backs. It's fun and you should try it too :)

  1. Thank you so much for this article! As an adult who started gymnastics at age 27 i can tell you that it's a great way to experience the sport on a whole new level. I've won many new friends and learned a lot about the sport and myself.
At the beginning my family thought i was crazy. Now they are jealous of my sixpack :-D

    1. That's so awesome! It is a great new bonding experience with people and it's such a positive atmosphere. I love it. I still gotta work on the six pack but I'll get there! :P

    2. It is! And I'm sure you'll get the sixpack soon :-D
Are you doing competitions too? I have my first one in march and I'm already nervous because I still need to work on a lot of things. Most of the time I'm totally unaware what my arms are doing. Lol

  2. Great vid! I am a high schooler hoping to play college softball so I sadly don't have time for gymnastics right now, but just the other day I was telling my mom that I am going to do gymnastics one day when my softball career is over. She did not even know gyms had adult classes :)

    1. That's actually exactly what I did. I kept looking for classes and finally found after my senior year of swimming. I hope you're able to find a class and do it! Keep me posted! :)

  3. I would love to experience anything close to this but unfortunately Portugal has very little to offer in gymnastics, much less adult gymnastics...
